Welcome to The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) was founded in 1948 soon after  Sri Lanka gained independence from British colonial rule, primarily to establish a forum for the Sri Lankan business community. The foremost objective of the Chamber at that time was the Ceylonisation of trade, as the policy climate was not quite conducive to national interests. The Founder Members comprised of all leading ethnic groups, Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, and Burgher. In 1955, the Chamber was formally incorporated as a Company Limited.

The National Chamber Delegation meets Vietnam President in Hanoi
            A seventeen member business delegation from of the National             Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) led by Mr. Asoka             Hettigoda the President of the Chamber, met His Excellency             Truong Tan Sang, the President of Vietnam at the Presidential             Palace during their visit to Vietnam from 13-18 November 2011. NCCSl Signs a MOU with the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce & Industries

               The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka on 25th January 2012 at its                 office, No. 450, D R Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10, signed a MOU with the                 Maldives National Chamber of Commerce & Industries. The MOU was signed by                 Mr Thilak Godamanna, Deputy President of National Chamber of Commerce of                 Sri Lanka (NCCSL) and Mr Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor, President of Maldives                 National Chamber of Commerce & Industries(MNCCI)


 
National Business Excellency Awards 2011
The National Business Excellence Awards is an annual award competition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) with a view to recognizing business enterprises, which have demonstrated excellence in business, whilst contributing to the economic progress of the country.

 

National Chamber signs a MOU with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 17th November 2011

High potential for Sri Lanka to improve trade with Germany, “ Ambassador says at the NCCSL
 
At a recently concluded seminar on “Bilateral Trade Opportunities Between Sri Lanka and Germany” organized by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. H.E Jens Ploetner, the Ambassador to Federal Republic of Germany said Sri Lanka has a high potential to improve trade with Germany if its strengths and weaknesses are properly addressed.
 
French Ambassador addresses the National Chamber Members
A seminar on “Bilateral Trade with France” organized by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, was held at the chamber auditorium. Her Excellency Madam Christine Robichon the Ambassador of France in Sri Lanka was the Special Guest and Mr Bruno Viviez, Commercial & Economic Counsellor of the French Embassy was the Guest Speaker. The chamber members were able to interact with the Embassy officials regarding trade opportunities in France and clarify certain issues when trading with France.
 
Thailand BOI Delegation Visit the National Chamber of Commerce
A five-member team of Officials from the Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand visited the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) recently The delegation was led by Mr. Songsak Limbanyen - Deputy Secretary General of BOI Thailand. Other members were, Mr. Nageen Arora, Consultant BOI, Mr. Kritawit Madhyamankura Ms. Nakrisorn Klaikeow - , Ms Suwanna Pootiwatcharanon - General Administration Officer. Discussions centred on Economic overview, Infrastructure, Investment & Opportunities for 2011 & BOI’s services in Thailand.
 
National Chamber to explore  New Business Opportunities in Iraq
The discussion between the officials of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and Mr. Abdul Hussein J.R Mubarak, Secretary General of the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce & Industry revealed that there are many opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters and even employees in Iraq. Mr Hussein indicated that back in 1976 Iraqi was buying a large volume of tea from Sri Lanka and as at present the position held by Sri Lanka was replaced by India and China with Sri Lanka’s contribution to the Iraq imported tea market becoming thin.
 
Chamber team meets Australian High Commissioner
A delegation led by Mr. Asoka Hettigoda, President of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka met H.E Ms Kathy Klugman, High Commissioner of Australia recently at the High Commission Office in Colombo. The delegation discussed a number of business related issues aiming at promoting bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and Australia. During the discussion emphasis was given to see the possibility of conducting one country exhibition in Sri Lanka where Australian companies could display their products and services.
 
Inaugural General Meeting of the SLBBCC
At the inaugural General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Bangladesh Business Co-operation Council held at the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka on Friday 8th April 2011, the following office bearers were elected. His Excellency Mahbub Uzzaman, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh graced the occasion.
