National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka was awarded a Prestigious Award
by the World Chamber Congress

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) was awarded a prestigious award by the World Chamber Congress at the sixth World Chamber Competition conducted recently in Malaysia. The Chamber has been selected for implementing the ”Most Successful Small Business Project” which led to develop the small business in the rural Sri Lanka. The “Grow your Business Project” which was subjected to the World Chamber Competition and selected for the prestigious World Award. The main component of the Grow Your Business Project was setting up a “Business Promotion Fund” sponsored by the Royal Netherlands Government to assist the small business sector to purchase machinery and equipment that require for expanding their business. Chamber has included the components such as Providing Entrepreneur Training for the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs  exposing the project beneficiaries to international exhibitions and training, offering the successful project beneficiaries the Chamber membership on a special category and providing a specialized service to the women entrepreneurs through NCCSL Women’s Wing. Chamber has supported 609 small businesses as at December 2008 through the “Grow Your Business Project”.
